Welcome to the heart of Centovalli!
I’m thrilled that you're staying at our house in Vosa. Our family has owned this rustico since the 1950s and we have spent many wonderful and eventful vacations there. It’s an adventure waiting to be discovered! The only changes we have made is to put in a wood-fired bathtub and install a small solar panel to charge phones and flashlights.
To make your stay safe and comfortable, we have put together this guide for you. If you have any questions, issues or feedback please reach out to us via the AirBnB app and we will provide any help we can! We depend on you to improve our hosting.

Getting Ready for Casa Caro
Pack Lightly
The stone paths are too stoney for a suitcase - we recommend you take a backpack with you.
Don't Forget Meals
We have cooking basics like oil and salt at the house, but the nearest grocery store, Coop Supermercato Verscio, is a 10 minute drive from Intragna so please bring all the food you'll need for your stay.
Bring Sheets
You'll need to bring sheets (90x200), pillow covers, blanket covers and towels. Sleeping bags work well too. Otherwise you can rent bedsheets from us for 20 CHF per person per stay.
Getting to the House

There is no road leading to the house, you have to hike to get there.

The stone paths are too rocky for a suitcase, backpacks recommended.

You can choose to hike up all the way from Intragna (a bit over an hour, and the first half is all uphill) or take a cable car to Pila and continue from there (EDIT 2023 - the public cable car Intragna-Pila is currently closed for renovation).

The hike from Intragna to Vosa is approx. 1h30 minutes and absolutely beautiful. Be aware that the first part up to the village Pila are uphill steps (approx. 1h); the path then flattens out.

Hours are usually 9 - 12:40, 14:30 - 18:10 (from March to November).
You can park at the Intragna Funivia (cable-car) station or at the train station (1 min away) - parking costs CHF 8 a day and 20 a week.
A single ride for an adult costs 8 CHF, with a half-fare card (Halbtax) and for children it's 6. Return tickets cost 12, respectively 8. Monthly tickets are available for CHF 50 / 40.
There is no cable-car service on the first Wednesday of every month!
What We Provide
Kitchen
For cooking, we have a wood-powered oven and a gas-powered stove as well as a small gas-powered refrigerator (internal capacity of 40cm x 40cm x 40cm).
Cooking spices, cooking oil, vinegar, dishes, cutlery, pots, cups etc. are at your disposal.
Bedroom
We have 4 single beds (90 x 200), two are indoors and two in our covered outdoor terrace. You can of course put two beds together to make a queen size bed. An extra blue folding mattress is also behind the chest in the living room for a 5th person.
Bathroom
We provide body soap, shampoo, toilet paper and cleaning material. There is a wood-fired oven to heat the shower and bath water - it takes about 20 minutes and is worth the wait!
Electricity
We have a small solar panel that provides electricity to USB ports for charging phones, tablets and the flashlights that are at the house. There is fair cellular reception up at the house and faster or slower internet depending on your network.
There is also a generator in case of emergency.
Wood
We spend many, many days every year chopping, drying, carrying and piling up wood from the forest.
You will find a wood basket near the stove in the kitchen. You can use one full basket for free for every 2 days that you stay (if you stay 1-2 days, you get one basket; if you stay 3-4, you get 2; etc).
If you need more wood than that, you can pick up wood from the floor in the forest - you can use as much as you want of that!
Otherwise, we charge an extra CHF 10 for every extra basket of wood from our wood storage that you use. We hope you understand!
Cleaning & Maintenance
Self-Cleaning
You're staying at a self cleaning reservation. At the end of your stay, there is a detailed cleaning procedure in our Guest Resources.
Otherwise there's an option of cleaning services for 150 CHF (which is the cost of sending a cleaner up on the mountain). Let us know at least 14 days before the end of your stay if you require these services.
If you find the cleanliness of the house unsatisfactory upon your arrival, please send us pictures!
Maintenance & Garbage
The basic rules are:
1. Anything that you take up the mountain, you take back down with you :)

2. Casa Caro is a family home and we are really happy to be able to share it with people from all over the world. Please take good care of it! If anything gets damaged or you arrive and something is broken, please let us know - we are here to help you resolve any issue.
